December 4, 2019 by kim Leave a Comment

Far too often, workers are seriously injured on the job, some of which are fatal. Often these injuries are entirely avoidable by taking the right precautions. Had only someone taken a few extra steps to make sure that all of the proper safety measures were taken, then fewer people would suffer as a result.

It should be every employer’s priority to keep their workers safe and free of injury. Whether it’s by enforcing protective gear or requiring specialized training before operating machinery, the employer’s job is to keep everyone safe.

Here are some of the most common ways that people get hurt on the job and what you can do to avoid them.

Repetitive Motion Injuries

Although it may not seem like the most dangerous of injuries, it can s seriously harm you in the long run. Jobs that require the same action over and over can start to take its toll on your body resulting in a variety of problems.

Some repetitive motion injuries include vision issues, carpal tunnel issues, and even back and neck strain. It’s vital that you properly train your employees on the best methods to avoid injury and stay healthy in their work environment.

Machine Injuries

In work environments where there is a lot of heavy machinery present, it’s not uncommon for people to get entangled in pieces of machinery. Anything from loose clothing to hair can get caught between mechanical parts and lead to a gruesome death.

In order to avoid incidents like these, employers should make sure that employees wear proper clothing and pay extra attention to hazards. Supervisors should be set in place to make sure that there is no irresponsible use of machinery at any moment.

Falling Objects

There are thousands of incidents a year of employees being hit by a fallen object. Whether it’s dropped from another employee’s arms or from the top of a shelf, these types of injuries can cause serious harm.

In warehouse environments, workers should wear appropriate shoes as well as helmets to protect their bodies from falling objects. Wearing a simple item of clothing can be instrumental in avoid tragic circumstances.

Slip and Fall

One of the most common injuries that can happen anywhere and at any time is a slip and fall accident. When something slippery and wet is on the floor, unknowing workers slip and hurt themselves.

Work surfaces should always be kept clear and free of spills and leaks. If there is ever a wet surface, it should be labeled and blocked off for workers to avoid.

By instilling proper training and encoring safety equipment, you can keep your workers much safer. By raising awareness of the risks involved, you can increase safety standards at your business.
